Karen Herrington, LPC

As a Licensed Professional Counselor, I am dedicated to helping individuals recognize their God-given worth and potential. I believe every person has the capacity to create meaningful and lasting change. My passion lies in walking alongside others on their journey toward healing, growth, and resilience.

I provide a safe, compassionate, and nurturing space where clients can reflect, heal, and discover new strengths. My therapeutic approach is Person-Centered, while also integrating evidence-based practices such as Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Solution-Focused Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT

I specialize in supporting women and who are experiencing, anxiety, depression, PTSD, eating disorders, relationship conflict, divorce, life transitions, codependency, grief and loss, and attachment issues.

In addition to my counseling work, I bring more than 20 years experience as a Social Worker in the foster care and adoptions system. I have had the personal experience of adopting two children from foster care and walking with them through their recovery from histories of sexual, physical, and psychological abuse. This perspective allows me to offer compassionate guidance to both adoptees and adoptive parents as they experience unique challenges. It is always a privilege to hear and hold their stories.

Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time outdoors with my husband, daughters, and extended family. Originally from California, my summers were spent at the Ocean, which is my favorite activity —and since moving to Virginia four years ago, I have begun exploring the stunning Southern Gulf Coast shores. Walking is my other passion, I begin each morning with a quiet walk before sunrise—a practice that grounds me, deepens my connection with God, and offers a fresh perspective for the day ahead.
